The risk for
being exposed to harmful levels of CO2 in our daily life is growing every day
CO2 is presently the strongest growing gas in the world.
With new and old applications such
as:
Refrigeration - both as a refrigerant and as directly
being used as the cooling medium (Termo King patent ).
Swimming pools to lower the pH.
Dry Clean ( the Global Technologies patent ).
In food conservation.
In drink dispensing
Numerous industrial applications in which CO2 is used in super critical form.
This means that most people are in risk of being exposed
to levels that are above IDLH ( Immediate Danger to Life and Health ) in
their daily life, both at their work and on their free time. All they have to do,
for example, is enter a gas station or a normal fast food restaurant where there
is a soda fountain.
It is because of this danger that countries like
Germany
,
Holland
,
Belgium
,
England
,
Sweden
,
Denmark
among others have set direct STEL ( Short Time Exposure Limits) values that
are not allowed to be exceeded. In
Germany
and
Holland
they have also enforced laws that mandate CO2 Safety Systems where there is a risk
of exposure to harmful levels of CO2.
McDonalds, the largest employer in the world with its
1.3 million employees have mandated that in every restaurant, were there is a risk
of exceeding IDLH there will be a warning system installed, this implementation
is planned to be finished before the end of 2007.
Many risk assessment analysis’s have been made, and they have come
to the conclusion: with the human factor included, the risk for being
exposed to harmful levels of CO2 equalling IDLH (Immediate Danger to Life
and Health) is not acceptable in our modern society of today.
We are today not being questioned about the danger of
CO2 - all that you have to do is go to a slaughter house for poultry or pork ( where
CO2 is the preferred gas to put the animals to sleep with)
-Instead the question is rather, who will pay for it!
The Demands on CO2 Safety Systems should of course be
that they fulfil the legal requirements that are mandated in the different countries.
Our CO2 Safety Systems fulfil all legal requirements
around the world. The Systems are set to activate on both STEL limits and
on TWA, with a pre-alarm to avoid ever reaching harmful CO2 levels.
Today we are proud to be the only supplier to do this.
Since our sensors have automatic self calibration and self diagnostics,
they are virtually maintenance free. With a display for easy understanding and check-up
and the absolute latest technology in NDIR sensing we also believe that our sensors
and systems, will by far, be the least
expensive to own over time. The life expectancy is 15 years for our systems!
